A. Graphical Search of Coats of Arms is based on the contents of the Shield and Coronets (baron's, count's, marquis', prince's) and Napoleonic birret. Crests details and colourfull shields borders are ignored.
Search is performed in two steps.
1. Shield layout - optional.
After click in the Button, Screen 1 will be displayed which presents shields layouts in 6 columns, depending on number of fields on the shield. Each column contains images of typical layouts, and a shield with question mark which indicates layout other than any displayed above. Selection of specific shield layout is performed by pressing a "radio button". Only one layout can be selected.
2. Shield contents - optional if shield layout has been selected, otherwise mandatory.
Screen 2 presents in the top row 16 groups of elements. Pressing of the icon of any group displays all elements belonging to the specific group. To select a specific element, number of its occurences has to be selected from the drop-down menu. In the case of uncertainity, XY should be selected which indicates any occurence.
1/2 indicates either half or a part of an element. As many elements as required can be selected. More elements means sharper selection criteria. Less elements means that more coats of arms will be displayed in screen 3.

B. Alphabetical Search.
After click in the Button a screen is displayed with letters of alphabet. Under each letter a count of coats of arms is shown. Click in the selected letter. It will display groups of names (from-to), each of them contains no more than 30 names. Click in the selected group, it will display all names belonging to it. Click either in the button to display images of Coats of Arms belonging to selected group or in the name - it will display the graphical definition of the coat of arms.
C. Family Names Search.
After click in the Button a screen is displayed with letters of alphabet. Under each letter a count of Family Names is shown. Click in the selected letter, it will display a screen with a box containing names starting with selected letter. It will enable quick finding of required name.
